Texas standout Colin Simmons has earned a place on the cover of EA Sports College Football 27, becoming one of the featured athletes for the highly anticipated video game’s deluxe edition.

The announcement was made Tuesday as EA Sports unveiled the cover athletes for both the standard and deluxe versions of the latest installment in its college football franchise.

Simmons, a defensive standout for Texas and a former Duncanville High School star, joins an elite group of players and coaches selected to represent the game. He appears on the deluxe edition cover alongside Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti, USC quarterback Jayden Maiava, Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore, and several athletes featured on the standard edition.

Second Texas Player to Receive Cover Recognition

Simmons is the second Texas Longhorns player to receive cover honors since EA Sports revived its college football video game series in 2024 after an 11-year absence.

The franchise’s return was met with significant success. EA Sports College Football 25 became one of the best-selling sports video games in U.S. history. That edition featured Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, Colorado star Travis Hunter, and Michigan running back Donovan Edwards on its cover.

Standard Edition Features Top Talent Across the Country

This year’s standard edition cover highlights several of college football’s rising stars, including Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy, Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney, and Oregon quarterback Dante Moore.

The deluxe edition combines those athletes with additional high-profile players and coaches, including Simmons, to showcase some of the sport’s most recognizable figures.

Simmons Continues to Build Impressive College Resume

Since arriving in Austin, Simmons has emerged as one of the most productive defensive players on the Texas roster.

The former Dallas-area standout, who was named The Dallas Morning News Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 while playing at Duncanville, has recorded 91 total tackles, 21 sacks, six forced fumbles, and one interception across his first two collegiate seasons.

His on-field production and growing national profile have helped establish him as one of college football’s premier defensive talents.

Game Launch Set for July

EA Sports College Football 27 is scheduled for worldwide release on July 9, giving fans their next opportunity to take control of college football’s biggest stars — including one of Texas’ brightest defensive playmakers.
