Samsung Electronics has announced plans to relocate its U.S. headquarters to Plano, Texas, reinforcing the company’s long-standing presence in the state and further expanding its footprint in North Texas.

The South Korea-based technology company confirmed Tuesday that its existing campus in Plano will become the new headquarters for its U.S. operations. The transition is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Move Part of Long-Term Business Strategy

In a statement, Samsung said the relocation is part of a broader organizational transformation aimed at supporting future growth and improving operational efficiency.

“Samsung Electronics America is undergoing a business transformation designed to better position the organization for long-term growth and future success,” the company said. Samsung added that consolidating leadership and operations in Plano will help improve coordination among teams and strengthen focus on key business priorities.

The move comes less than a year after Samsung opened a new headquarters facility in Englewood, New Jersey.

Questions Remain About New Jersey Facility

The company has not indicated whether it plans to fully vacate its recently opened 321,000-square-foot office in New Jersey.

According to reports from South Korean media, approximately 1,000 employees could be affected by the relocation. Samsung also noted that it is reviewing parts of its organizational structure to better align resources with business objectives, a process that may impact some employees.

Plano Campus Continues to Grow

Samsung has steadily expanded its North Texas operations over the past several years.

The company consolidated many of its regional functions at the Legacy Central development in Plano in 2019. Since then, it has significantly increased its office footprint, adding tens of thousands of square feet of additional workspace through multiple expansion projects between 2020 and 2023.

Beyond office facilities, Samsung maintains warehouse and distribution operations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Strategic Location Near Key Operations

Relocating the headquarters to Plano places Samsung closer to several important business assets in Texas, including its semiconductor operations near Austin.

The move also positions the company near major telecommunications partner AT&T’s future headquarters campus in Plano, which is scheduled to open in 2028.

Commitment to U.S. Investment

Samsung emphasized that the relocation reflects its continued commitment to investing in the United States and strengthening its long-term business foundation.

The company said the transition will support innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth while enhancing its ability to serve customers and business partners across the country.
