DALLAS-FORT WORTH — The current stretch of intense heat and dry conditions across North Texas is nearing its end. Weather forecasts indicate that rain and thunderstorm chances will soon return to the region, offering residents a brief reprieve from near-triple-digit temperatures.

For Saturday, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth projects a high of 99°C, with humidity pushing the heat index—or “feels like” temperature—up to 103°F. Skies will remain clear and sunny with light breezes, while overnight lows are expected to drop to around 79°F.

To mitigate health risks during extreme summer heat, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises taking proactive measures, including:

  • Increasing fluid intake to stay hydrated
  • Seeking shaded areas when outdoors
  • Applying sunscreen regularly
  • Wearing wide-brimmed hats to block UV rays
  • Monitoring for early symptoms of heat exhaustion or dehydration

Storm System Moves in Sunday

A shifts in the atmospheric pattern is expected to break the dry spell by late weekend. The NWS projects a 60% probability of scattered, non-severe thunderstorms developing by Sunday evening, with daytime highs dipping slightly to 97°F.

This wet weather pattern will carry over into the new workweek. Rain chances remain at 60% on Monday before gradually tapering off to 35% on Tuesday and 25% by mid-week. Accompanying the precipitation will be a noticeable cooling trend, with daytime temperatures expected to drop into the lower 90s across North Texas.
