North Texas Logistics Firm Alan Ritchey to Close Irving Facility, Affecting 232 Workers

IRVING, Texas — North Texas-based logistics company Alan Ritchey Inc. will shut down operations at one of its Irving transfer centers later this year, resulting in the layoff of 232 employees, according to a federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing submitted this week.
The workforce reduction will take effect in mid-September and will impact a range of non-union positions, including shipping and receiving personnel, forklift operators, supervisors, managers, and support staff.
Facility Operations to Transfer to USPS
The affected site, known as the Dallas Surface Transfer Center, is located on Conflans Road in western Irving near State Highway 161. According to the WARN notice, Alan Ritchey will permanently cease operations at the facility.
However, the filing indicates that the location’s activities will be assumed by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). Current employees may have opportunities to apply for positions or receive employment offers from the federal agency once the transition occurs.
The company did not provide a specific reason for closing the operation. Representatives from Alan Ritchey had not responded to requests for comment as of Wednesday afternoon.
Longtime Logistics Company With Nationwide Operations
Headquartered in the North Texas community of Valley View, Alan Ritchey has operated since the early 1960s. The company provides transportation and logistics services across the United States and also maintains a mail services division that works closely with the Postal Service.
In addition, the company operates the Martindale Feed Mill, which supplies animal feed products to dealers throughout Texas and Oklahoma.
Latest in a Series of Workforce Reductions
The Irving closure is the latest workforce reduction announced by Alan Ritchey in 2026.
Earlier this year, the company ended operations at a New Jersey facility after the nonrenewal of a Postal Service contract, resulting in 176 job losses. In January, Alan Ritchey also ceased activities at a Postal Service transfer hub in Colorado, a move that affected 729 employees, according to industry publication FreightWaves.
Combined with the Irving layoffs, the company has announced more than 1,100 job cuts nationwide this year.
North Texas Sees Notable Layoff Announcements
Despite broader economic conditions characterized by relatively stable employment levels and limited workforce reductions, several significant layoff announcements have emerged across North Texas in recent months.
In April, meal solutions provider FreshRealm announced plans to eliminate 161 jobs in the region while undergoing bankruptcy proceedings. The following month, Spirit Airlines cut more than 400 North Texas positions amid the carrier’s sudden operational collapse.
The latest layoffs at Alan Ritchey add to a growing list of high-profile workforce reductions affecting the region in 2026, even as overall labor market conditions remain comparatively resilient.
