Frisco Delays Grand Opening of 4th Street Plaza in Rail District

The City of Frisco has postponed the grand opening celebration for the highly anticipated 4th Street Plaza project in the Rail District, citing the need to complete construction and finalize the plaza’s custom features.

City officials announced earlier this month that the opening event, originally scheduled for June 20, will be moved to a later date. Officials said the delay is intended to ensure the signature public gathering space is completed properly before welcoming residents and visitors.

Despite the postponement, other major Rail District projects remain on schedule ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with nearby Arlington set to host tournament matches at AT&T Stadium this summer.

Rail District Improvements Continue Ahead of World Cup

Construction crews are continuing work across the Rail District, including the reconstruction of Main Street and the completion of a new parking garage on Elm Street. City officials said both projects are still expected to be ready before World Cup-related activities begin.

The parking garage is currently in the final phase of construction. Workers are installing landscaping and hardscape elements along 3rd and Elm Streets, completing interior striping and signage, and conducting final cleanup operations.

Meanwhile, work at 4th Street Plaza remains active as crews install additional landscaping, build the framework for a custom ribbon-style shade structure, and plant trees throughout the public space.

Frisco Preparing for International Visitors

Frisco is expected to play a role during the FIFA World Cup as the Sweden national football team plans to use Toyota Stadium as its training site. Officials anticipate the team will arrive around June 5, bringing increased international attention and visitor traffic to the city.

The Rail District upgrades are part of Frisco’s broader effort to enhance downtown infrastructure and public spaces ahead of the global sporting event.
