Dallas Restaurant Hosts Fundraiser to Honor North Texas Family on Anniversary of Central Texas Flood

A Dallas eatery is stepping up to support a local family one year after a devastating Central Texas flood claimed the lives of four relatives, including two children and their grandparents.

Through July 12, 2026, Renny’s Bar & Grill is running a targeted dining fundraiser to benefit the Harber family foundation. Last summer, 13-year-old Blair Harber and 11-year-old Brooke Harber perished alongside their grandparents, Mike and Charlene Harber, after being swept away during a massive Fourth of July flood near Hunt, Texas.

A Community United in Grief and Remembrance

The tragedy deeply impacted the community at St. Rita Catholic Parish and School, where the Harber children attended. Renny’s owner Mark Maguire, a longtime St. Rita parishioner, felt compelled to act after learning of the unimaginable loss. Adding to the personal connection, the elder Harbers had dined at his establishment just days before the disaster.

To mark the anniversary, St. Rita planted a memorial rosemary on July 3, 2026. Simultaneously, Maguire launched the restaurant fundraiser to provide tangible support.

“The thought of losing all your children at that age – and your parents – is so unimaginable that I choke every time I think or talk about it,” Maguire shared.

How the Charity Menu Works

Modeled after traditional Restaurant Week formats, Renny’s is offering a specially curated, three-course prix fixe menu for both lunch and dinner at $49 per person. From every meal ordered, $10 goes directly to the family’s charitable foundation, blairandbrooke.org.

The limited-time menu features upscale options designed to draw in diners for the cause:

  • First Course: A choice between a strawberry summer salad, coconut shrimp, or basil pesto arancini.
  • Second Course: Options include grilled Alaskan halibut, grilled pork, or beef tenderloin topped with crab meat.
  • Dessert: A choice of fresh berries with Grand Marnier sabayon, or a cast-iron skillet chocolate chip cookie—a nod to Blair Harber’s favorite dessert.

Baking for a Cause

Beyond the three-course dinner, Renny’s is selling four-pack boxes of large Mexican vanilla chocolate chip cookies for a suggested donation of $10. Because Blair was an aspiring baker, the restaurant used her personal recipe, with 100% of the cookie sales directly benefiting the fund.

The initiative has already seen an overwhelming response from the neighborhood; Maguire and his wife sold out of their initial 50 boxes on day one and have been working continuously to bake more and meet demand.

Location and Availability

Renny’s Bar & Grill is located near Preston Hollow at 11611 Preston Road (near Forest Lane), Dallas.

The fundraiser runs through Sunday, July 12, 2026. Please note that the restaurant will be closed on July 4 and July 6, 2026, but the charity menu will be fully available during all other standard operational hours.
