North Texans enjoyed a temporary break from intense summer weather on Sunday, but triple-digit heat and high humidity are set to rapidly reclaim the Dallas-Fort Worth region throughout the coming week.

A weak cold front that passed through on Saturday ushered in cooler, drier air, keeping Sunday’s peak temperature near 98 degrees under clear, sunny skies. Lightweight north winds of 5 to 10 mph provided a noticeable drop in humidity before overnight temperatures settled around 74 degrees.

Triple-Digit Heat and High Humidity Build Back

The brief respite will be short-lived. Temperatures are projected to rebound quickly on Monday, reaching 100 degrees under bright sunshine. By Tuesday, afternoon highs could peak at 103 degrees, maintaining near-100-degree conditions through Friday.

Overnight low temperatures will similarly rise, staying in the upper 70s for most of the week.

The National Weather Service warns that rising atmospheric moisture by midweek will significantly elevate heat index values. “Feels like” temperatures are expected to push between 105 and 110 degrees, creating hazardous conditions for outdoor activity without any expected rain to cool the area.
