Several West Arlington business owners face an uphill recovery after a destructive four-alarm fire tore through a multi-tenant commercial strip on Monday evening during extreme triple-digit temperatures.

The blaze erupted around 5:30 p.m. at 2410 West Abram Street, originating inside Beirut Grill before sweeping across the single-story complex. Nearly 100 firefighters responded to the scene, contending with dangerous 106-degree heat recorded at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Crews brought the fire under control within two hours. While no civilian injuries were reported, the building suffered extensive destruction—three tenant spaces were completely ruined, and three others sustained severe smoke damage. Investigators have not yet determined the cause.

Decade-Old Eatery and Independent Shops Destroyed

The fire dealt a devastating blow to Beirut Grill, a Mediterranean restaurant that has served the Arlington community for more than ten years. Following the total loss of its space, the owners launched an online fundraising drive aiming to raise $500,000 for equipment replacement, site cleanup, and operational recovery. By Wednesday afternoon, community donations had surpassed $5,000.

Also leveled by the fire were Smash Toast, a local sandwich eatery, and Folklore Grove Bookstore, an independent bookshop operating within the same unit. Owners Bobby King and Kait Thibeaux—longtime friends and Arlington Martin High School alumni who teamed up roughly a year ago to launch the joint venture—expressed devastation over the sudden loss on social media, describing the destruction of their shared enterprise as a nightmare realized.

Other commercial tenants housed in the building include Derma Spa Laser Clinic and The Pilates Effect. Representatives for those businesses could not be reached immediately for comment.
