Plano Breaks Ground on Mixed-Use Development at Historic Haggard Farm

Share

Plano has officially broken ground on a major mixed-use development at the historic Haggard Farm property, marking a key milestone for one of the city’s remaining large development sites. The celebration included city officials, community representatives, and members of the Haggard family, who have deep roots in Plano dating back to 1856.

The 142-acre development will feature a destination restaurant, boutique hotel, office and retail space, multifamily residences, and extensive green areas. Phase one of the project will introduce retail and residential options, townhomes, and a trail system, establishing a walkable district that connects neighborhoods and integrates outdoor spaces into daily life.

With a total projected investment of $750 million, the development aims to honor the property’s agricultural heritage while meeting the city’s growing demand for modern amenities. Architectural and landscape designs are planned to reflect the site’s historical significance, preserving the Haggard family legacy as the area evolves.

Rutledge Haggard, a great-great-grandson of the original settlers, emphasized the importance of carefully stewarding the land as Plano has grown from a town of just over 1,200 residents into the vibrant city it is today.
