Mike’s Chicken Announces Opening Date for First Plano Location

Share

One of Dallas’ most popular fried chicken restaurants is officially expanding into Collin County. Mike’s Chicken, known for its crispy tenders and loyal customer following, will open its first Plano location on Feb. 18. Founded in 2014, the family-owned restaurant has built a strong reputation through its two Dallas locations, including one on Maple Avenue in Oak Lawn and another near Forest Lane. The Plano store marks the brand’s first expansion outside Dallas city limits.

The new restaurant will be located at 3345 E. President George Bush Highway, near Renner Road and SH 190. It will operate daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

First Collin County Expansion for the Dallas Favorite

The Plano opening represents a major step for Mike’s Chicken as it continues to grow beyond its original Dallas footprint. A third location is also currently in development. The restaurant’s expansion comes as it continues to attract national attention. In 2025, Mike’s Chicken earned a spot on Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S., further strengthening its reputation as a standout comfort food destination.

Simple Menu Built Around Fried Chicken Favorites

Mike’s Chicken has become known for its straightforward menu featuring fried tenders, wings, sandwiches and customizable bowls. Popular side options include mashed potatoes, fries, creamed corn and mac and cheese. The restaurant’s success has been fueled by its fresh-to-order cooking style, with chicken marinated in-house and fried on demand.

With its Plano debut, Mike’s Chicken is expected to introduce a new wave of North Texas diners to the fried chicken that helped make it a Dallas staple.
