Democrats Show Stronger Performance in Early 2026 Collin County Midterms

Share

Early results from the 2026 midterm elections in Collin County suggest a notable shift compared to the 2022 cycle, with Democrats posting stronger numbers across much of the county. With four days of results reported, at least 60% of precincts have shown Democratic gains over their 2022 performance.

In 2022, Republicans maintained comfortable margins countywide, benefiting from strong turnout in suburban and rural precincts. However, early 2026 returns indicate improved Democratic performance in rapidly growing and diversifying cities such as Frisco, Wylie, Murphy, Plano—particularly East Plano—and McKinney. These areas are posting narrower Republican margins and, in some precincts, outright Democratic leads.

Republicans continue to hold strong positions in smaller and more sparsely populated communities such as Lucas and Lavon, where turnout patterns remain favorable to the GOP.

While final outcomes remain uncertain, the early trajectory points to a more competitive political landscape in Collin County than seen in 2022. If current trends hold, 2026 could mark a significant recalibration of suburban voting dynamics in one of North Texas’s fastest-growing counties.
