Job Overview:
Position: Elementary Homebound Tutor – General Education
Reports To: Assistant Director of Specialized Learning Services / General Education Homebound Specialist
Work Year: Varies
Frisco ISD is seeking qualified Elementary Homebound Tutors to provide instruction for students who are unable to attend school due to a physical illness. Students must be expected to remain homebound for a minimum of four weeks, which need not be consecutive.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for assigned subjects (preferred in Math, English, Science, and Social Studies).
Knowledge/Skills:
- Understanding the needs of homebound students
- Familiarity with curriculum and instruction in core subjects: English, Math, Science, Social Studies
- Knowledge of Section 504 procedures and accommodations
- Experience with positive behavior reinforcement strategies
- Flexible scheduling to meet student needs
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement appropriate instructional strategies and materials
- Assist students in improving study habits and learning methods
- Assess student achievement through formal and informal evaluations
- Incorporate accessible technologies in instruction
- Serve as a positive role model and support the district’s mission
- Maintain open communication with students and parents
- Attend Section 504 meetings as required
- Collaborate with the teacher of record to develop and maintain educational programs
- Teach two or more students as needed
- Organize daily schedules to maximize productivity
- Maintain professional, ethical, and responsible behavior
- Ensure confidentiality of student records
- Comply with all staff, district, and school policies

Working Conditions:
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Assist with positioning students with physical disabilities when necessary
