Princeton Wrestlers Dominate Lewisville in Pre-Holiday Sweep

Share

The Princeton wrestling program closed out its final competition before Thanksgiving with an impressive sweep on the road, defeating Lewisville in both the girls and boys duals on Nov. 25.

The Panther boys rallied for a 46–36 victory, while the Lady Panthers rolled past the Lady Farmers 36–18, powered by a mix of key wins on the mat and several Lewisville forfeits.

Lady Panthers Take Control Early

With only three contested matches on the girls’ side, Princeton capitalized quickly. Nalani Mornes opened the dual with a first-period pin at 110 pounds, giving Princeton an early 6–0 advantage. The Lady Panthers then surged to a 30–0 lead thanks to four Lewisville open weights at 115, 120, 125 and 145.

Lewisville notched its first points with a pin at 155 and later added six more due to a Princeton open at 170. But the Lady Panthers sealed the win when Addy Smith secured a dominant first-period pin in the 190-pound match, putting the dual out of reach.

Panther Boys Rally After Slow Start

The boys’ dual started with adversity, as Princeton fell behind 18–6 after Lewisville recorded three early pins. The lone early win came from Austin Aparicio, who earned a quick fall at 175 pounds.

But the Panthers’ depth proved decisive. Lewisville’s open weight classes at 285, 106 and 113 allowed Princeton to flip the scoreboard and take a 35–18 lead. A technical fall from Logan Wilczynski at 120 and a first-period pin by Jeremiah Soto at 125 extended the advantage.

Lewisville briefly closed the gap to 35–30 with two wins by fall, but Princeton shut the door with back-to-back victories. Landen Fulton delivered a 15-0 technical fall at 144 pounds, and Nolan Culverhouse followed with a first-period pin at 150 to clinch the team win.
