Frisco ISD Keeps Tax Rate Steady at $1.0194, but Rising Home Appraisals Will Lift Tax Bills

The Frisco Independent School District Board of Trustees has maintained its property tax rate for the 2026–27 fiscal year, though local homeowners will still pay an estimated $141 more on average due to climbing property values.

During their Aug. 17 meeting, trustees set the FY 2026–27 overall tax rate at $1.0194 per $100 of assessed property value, matching the rate from the previous fiscal cycle.

Despite the unchanged rate, rising real estate valuations across the district continue to push total tax obligations higher. District records indicate that Frisco ISD’s aggregate taxable property value climbed by $1.21 billion over the past year, reaching an estimated $66.49 billion for 2026. Consequently, the average taxable value of a single-family home within district boundaries rose 2.5% to $565,084, driving the projected $141 annual increase for homeowners.

The approved rate divides into two distinct levies:

  • Maintenance and Operations (M&O): Set at $0.7494 per $100 valuation. District records show the M&O component has steadily dropped since 2018, falling 42.06 cents from its former high of $1.17.
  • Interest and Sinking (I&S): Set at $0.2700 per $100 valuation to service capital debt.

The tax rate adoption follows the board’s June 15 approval of a balanced $751.9 million district budget for the upcoming school year. That budget allocates funds for employee compensation and routine operational expenses, alongside $197.5 million dedicated to debt service and $25.3 million allocated for child nutrition programs.
