Mobilizing Unity: Leaders Confront Rising Anti-Asian Hate at North Texas Town Hall

Share

MURPHY, TX — In a powerful display of solidarity, local leaders and community advocates gathered yesterday for the “No Hate Townhall,” a high-stakes forum addressing the alarming surge of hate crimes across the United States. Featuring Texas State Representative Gene Wu and Evan Hunt, Democratic candidate for Congressional District 3, the event issued a clarion call for protection and political empowerment for the Asian American community.

Representative Wu, a fierce advocate for minority rights, highlighted how Asians have been increasingly targeted by discriminatory rhetoric and violence. “We are not just a ‘model minority’; we are a cornerstone of this nation’s future,” Wu stated, urging the audience to move from the sidelines into civic leadership.

Evan Hunt echoed this urgency, emphasizing that the strength of North Texas lies in its diversity. He praised the immense economic and cultural contributions of Asian Americans, noting that their role in defending democracy is now more critical than ever.

The townhall was proudly sponsored by Asian Texans for Justice Action Fund and North Texas Asian Democrats. The Host committee included the political advisory group PrecinctSmart, the online media outlet Collin Chronicles, the civic engagement group Good Citizens for DFW, the voter education group Powered By People and the Center of Excellence for Community Services (CECS), which all played important roles to make the program a success.

The program concluded with a resounding message from Justice Tina Clinton: through unity and active voting in the upcoming Primary, Local and Mid-Term elections, the community can transform fear into a formidable force for progress.
