Construction is in full swing at Northwest Community Park, Frisco’s newest large-scale recreational destination, and the 120-acre site is starting to take shape as a vibrant hub for outdoor activity. Located just south of PGA Frisco, the park is on track to open this summer, marking a significant step forward in the city’s long-term vision for parks and community spaces.
On Schedule and On Budget
City officials report that the $140 million project is progressing smoothly. Roughly one year into its 18-month construction timeline, parking areas and concrete foundations are complete, while crews focus on installing signature amenities designed to delight visitors of all ages.
Designed for Everyone, Built for Fun
Northwest Community Park is a multi-use destination, offering a wide range of experiences. A sprawling adventure playground with slides and zip lines is taking shape, complemented by a splash pad for warm-weather fun. A dog park is also under construction, and open fields are being graded for casual recreation, sports, and community gatherings. While 70 acres of the park are actively developed, the remaining 50 acres will preserve natural landscapes, integrating the park seamlessly with its surroundings.
A Cycling Destination Like No Other
Cyclists will have plenty to look forward to. Existing mountain bike trails are being upgraded with improved loops, flow, and skill features, while a 20-foot prairie lookout provides a launch point for thrilling rides and panoramic views of the Frisco skyline. Additionally, the park will debut the city’s first asphalt bike pump track and bike playground, designed for all-weather riding so cyclists can enjoy the space year-round.
Rooted in the Blackland Prairie
Reflecting the native Blackland Prairie landscape, the park blends environmental inspiration with imaginative recreation. From thoughtfully crafted play structures to native landscaping, Northwest Community Park is designed to honor its natural surroundings while delivering a modern, adventurous experience for the community.
A Fully Realized Vision
Funded by the Frisco Community Development Corporation, the $140 million investment ensures that the park opens as a fully developed destination rather than a phased project. When doors—or rather gates—open this summer, residents can expect an innovative, nature-infused, and activity-packed environment designed for exploration, connection, and play.
